The Age of Spiritual Machines
The Age of Spiritual Machines is a non-fiction book written by Ray Kurzweil in 1999 that predicts the future of artificial intelligence (AI) and its merger with human consciousness, arguing that technology will evolve to surpass human intelligence, leading to a new era where the distinction between humans and machines blurs.
Kurzweil outlines a vision for the 21st century, predicting that by the 2020s, AI will match human-level intelligence, leading to relationships with AI companions, and by the 2030s, humans will use neural implants, becoming cyborgs as AI becomes conscious. The book is based on his “law of accelerating returns,” which posits that technological progress happens exponentially.
In November 2020 we wrote an article in the blog called “Astrology for the 21st Century – 2nd part”. The title refers to the book we wrote on the subject, but in this case, we were talking about the integration of man and machine (AI).
Klaus Schwab, a German economist, engineer and business administrator, founder of the World Economic Forum, wrote a book called ‘The Forth Industrial Revolution‘, which addresses the union between AI and humans, also with a vision of implanting everyone with a chip connected to a central system. In 2020 there was a big push at certain high-power levels in the world for this to happen in not-too-distant future. By 2025 all went to hell. Full stop on that enterprise when Klaus Schwab resigned from the Forum in the middle of a scandal.
From Ray Kurzweil to Klaus Schwab you can get the idea that somewhere in the world there are people thinking that they can control the rest of humanity by integrating the human being into a computer system.
Let’s start with rational thinking. Computers, phones, tables, smart TVs, AI and the rest are just technology. It runs on electricity. No electricity, no Facebook, no Instagram, no Netflix, no 90% of the world that we depend on or interact with every day of our lives.
Just picture in your mind having a chip connected to your brain, which is connected to a central system and the power goes down? What happens? Check the Carrington Event for your amusement (link provided).
You don’t have to go 100 years back to understand what happen to the people that were hit by hurricane Helene in North Carolina in 2024. No food, no water, no electricity. And they are talking about integrating humans into computers? Only delusional can do that.
I’m an IT professional, started studying at the time of punch cards, and all my life I continued updating my knowledge. Technology is very demanding if you want to keep up with the latest.
I can tell you that a tool cannot became a human being, it does not matter how many functions it has, it’s just a tool.
If you see your phone or your self-driving car as something more than what they are, think again. You are on the wrong path, they are just tools, and they work only if they are charged and if they have connection. You (human being) will continue functioning even if they stop.
Astrology is also a tool; it can help guide your life and can provide information so you can navigate better rough times and excel during good times. But astrology is never going to solve your problems. That depends entirely on your actions and how you manage the energies around you.
So don’t give a tool more importance to what it has, just use it wisely.
